May Lau, MD, MPH, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) Medical Center and Peter O’Donnell School of Public Health, while also serving as the medical director of the Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) clinic at Children’s Medical Center Dallas. As a Fellow of the Society of Adolescent Health and Medicine (SAHM), Dr. Lau chairs the SAHM Reproductive Health Committee and was the lead author on the SAHM Position Paper entitled, "Promoting Sexual Consent Principles in the Sexual and Reproductive Health Care of Adolescent and Young Adults." Dr. Lau is also an elected member of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Section on Adolescent Health Executive Committee. She is a past co-chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Texas Pediatric Society (TPS) Committee on Adolescent and Sports Medicine. Her clinical and research interests are varied and include mental, sexual, and reproductive health in adolescent females and males, and gender and sexual minority youth. She enjoys working with medical students, residents, and fellows in clinic and on a variety of research projects. As one of the few board-certified adolescent medicine physicians in the Dallas area, Dr. Lau has been recognized as one of the top adolescent medicine specialists by D Magazine since 2011.
