Dr. Heather Appelbaum is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and has received a Focused Practice Designation from the Board in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. She received her medical degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She completed internship and residency in Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She completed advanced training for minimally invasive surgical approach to congenital anomalies of the reproductive tract at the University Milan, Italy. Dr. Appelbaum is currently Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Hackensack School of Medicine in New Jersey. She practices pediatric, adolescent and adult gynecology and specializes in pediatric gynecologic surgery and pediatric pelvic reconstructive surgery at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and the K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital through the Hackensack Meridian Health Network. She is particularly interested in complex congenital anomalies of the reproductive tract and has lectured locally and nationally on these topics. Additionally, she is on the speaker’s bureau for A TIME, CHAVA, and Mikvah.org. She is an active member of The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. She is section editor to the Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology and has had multiple publications in the area of pediatric and adolescent gynecology on topics related to Müllerian anomalies, abnormal female pubertal development, ovarian masses in children, ovarian torsion, menstrual irregularities, and gynecologic concerns for children with cancer and children with developmental delay. She lives in Tom’s River, New Jersey with her husband and her children.
