OBGYN Resident PGY-3
BronxCare Health System
My name is Dr Noemi Hughes (MA MB BChir), and I am currently immersed in my third year of OBGYN residency at BronxCare Hospital NYC. Working with young women has always been my calling and PAG marries the science I am most interested in, to the compassionate care of patients I feel a profound connection with. This journey began at Cambridge medical school, where I pursued an intercalated degree in embryology, fetal and placental physiology. Subsequently I have sought observerships and training positions in PAG, NICU, REI and OBGYN across various global socioeconomic settings which has evolved into a deep-seated attachment to the holistic care of pediatric patients, adolescents with eating disorders and victims of sexual abuse.
Engaging in welfare, teaching roles, and developing research projects with this population, I have focused on underdiagnosed or overshadowed conditions where emotional factors have a significant impact on the manifestation and patient experience of organic pathology. As a certified Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) and having completed the Child Abuse Medical Provider Program (CHAMP), I have an intense concern for child advocacy and application of the nuanced legal, ethical, and equitable trauma-informed care essential for young patients grappling with psychosocial issues. Commitment to serving as a steadfast resource during both their most challenging or joyous times, ensuring clinical well-being, safety, individual growth, and empowerment is at the forefront of my practice.
