Dr. Leslie Appiah is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Chief of the Division of Academic Specialists in Ob/Gyn at The University of Colorado School of Medicine and Children’s Hospital Colorado. She is a fellowship-trained pediatric and adolescent gynecologist and Director of the Fertility Preservation and Reproductive Late Effects program. Dr. Appiah received her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and completed residency at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. She completed a BIRCWH fellowship in reproductive genetics at Baylor College of Medicine and a PAG fellowship at Texas Children’s Hospital. Dr. Appiah is an ASRM NICHD CREST Scholar and serves on the ASRM Fertility Drugs and Cancer and Children’s Oncology Group Long-Term Follow-up Guidelines Task Forces. She is a member of the NASPAG Mentoring and Anti-Racism Committees and ASRM Research Advisory Committee. Dr. Appiah is chair of the Female Scientific Committee of the Oncofertility Consortium and NASPAG Fertility Preservation (FP) SIG, and chair-elect of the ASRM FP SIG.
Dr. Appiah is an American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society fellow and Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) alumna. She is a funded researcher and Associate Editor for the Journal of Contraception and Reproductive Medicine with 50 peer-reviewed publications and 100 invited lectureships. Dr. Appiah is a Denver 5280 Top Doc and recipient of the American Medical Association Women Physicians Inspiration, American Medical Women’s Association Exceptional Mentor, and Castle Connolly Exceptional Women in Medicine Awards. Dr. Appiah’s academic interests include dissemination and implementation science and outcomes research in fertility preservation and reproductive late effects, primary ovarian insufficiency/menopause, and hormone replacement therapy. Dr. Appiah serves on several boards including the Alliance for Fertility Preservation and Colorado Fertility Advocates. She is a certified career coach and is passionate about mentorship and improving reproductive health in girls and women.
