Clinical Lead/Manager Registered Nurse

My name is Natalie Alexander RN, BSN, Clinical Lead in PAG at Nationwide Children's, Hospital. I am a mom of three young ones, ages 7, 4, and 2. My kids are very active in sports and I spend much of my time when not at work, in a hocky rink. I have been married for almost 10 years and we have a dog (Boxer) named Kona. I have been a nurse for 14 years and I am currently in my dream job. I work in the Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology Department at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. I am the clinical lead, or in other words, nurse manager, of our busy ambulatory clinic. We have 6 locations, 6 providers, and I have 15 RNs under me. We take care of kiddos from the age of birth, until they are 27. We see an incredibly broad spectrum; from birth anomalies, to contraception and STD treatment. I love being a nurse and I feel very fortunate to be living out not only my passion, but my purpose every day. In the role as clinical lead, I have the opportunity to help grow and nurture our nurses into finding their next steps along their career pathways, empowering them to do more, and to never settle. While at the same time, keeping my finger on the pulse of patient care. I room our patients, help encourage them during painful procedures, and spend a lot of time on the phone triaging our kiddos. I also have the opportunity to collaborate with other departments and helping ensure our kiddos receive the best possible outcomes.
