Joseph Sanfilippo Lectureship
This lectureship has been designated in honor of Dr. Joseph Sanfilippo and is dedicated to advocacy and innovation. Dr. Joseph Sanfilippo has an extensive medical career that encompasses not only the field of pediatric and adolescent gynecology but that of reproductive medicine as well as minimally invasive surgery.
Dr. Sanfilippo’s contributions to PAG have been transformative, He was charter member of the North American Society of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology and is considered one of the North American fathers of pediatric and adolescent gynecology.
In 1990, he established the oldest running fellowship in Pediatric and Adolescent gynecology at the University of Louisville Kentucky housed at Norton Children’s Hospital. He then served as President of the North American Society of Pediatrics and Adolescent Gynecology and then as the Executive director from 1995-2016.
He has been actively involved with The American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists and the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He was the Director of Reproductive Endocrinology at both the University of Louisville as well as at Magee-Williams Hospital.
He served as Chair of the Adolescent Health Care Committee of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and assisted with the writing the examination for Focused Practice in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr Sanfilippo has published extensively in the field of pediatric and adolescent gynecology and is the author of several textbooks, including Sanfilippo’s Textbook of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology.
