Russo Lectureship
This lectureship has been designated in honor of Dr. Joseph Russo and covers topics of interest to the NASPAG membership. Dr. Joseph F. Russo was a founding member of the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology and served as one of the first Treasurer’s for the organization. As a physician trained in Obstetrics and Gynecology, he focused his practice primarily on the medical aspects of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. Dr. Russo was on faculty at UCLA School of Medicine and served as Director of the Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as the Director of Resident Education. His astute awareness of the need for development of subspecialty care for adolescents began in the mid-70’s. Dr. Russo’s early writings, in the 1970’s, focused on “Teenage Pregnancy” and Adolescent Contraception”. His dedicated time and talents served the Society well in its early days of existence. As Treasurer, Dr. Russo was a significant contributor to the financial stability of the Society during his tenure as Treasurer from 1992-2004.
